Name: Stuart Hutchinson

Job title: VP Sales EMEA & APAC

Q. How would you describe your role with Cyacomb?

I head up the Sales Team which covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. We are a growing team of sales professionals dedicated to getting our tools into the hands of law enforcement professionals around the world.

Q. Tell us about your career journey that led you to Cyacomb

After school, I worked for a high street bank and soon discovered that wasn’t for me. I wanted to work outdoors and saw a recruitment poster for the Police. I signed up there and then, and spent the next 23 years as a police officer in London. Most of my service was with the Special Branch and Counter Terrorism Command, where I specialised in digital forensics and cyber security (long before cyber was as trendy and hip as it is now!). I left the Police to go to a BlackBag Technologies, as a Mac and iOS forensics specialist, and started the UK and European operation for them, rising to head up their Sales Team. From there I went to Oxygen Forensics and again started their UK and European operation.

Q. What attracted you to join Cyacomb?

Two things attracted me to Cyacomb; the people and the culture. I’d met a number of the team prior to this opportunity becoming available. No one had a bad thing to say about working here and I knew it would be a good fit for me. Culturally my values and those of the company are very well aligned.  A lot is said about corporate culture and values, but it was clear from the outset that Cyacomb valued its culture as highly as anything else. We are all committed to the same overall vision, a world where no harmful content can be hidden or shared, and when a single vision is what drives an organisation, it makes a real difference.

Q. What aspects of your job and working for Cyacomb do you enjoy the most?

That’s an easy one to answer. Getting our game changing technology into the hands of people who can use it to make a real difference in the world. Be it protecting children from online predators or detecting terrorists trying to cross our borders, giving people on the front line the tools they need to do what they do, quickly and thoroughly, is the most enjoyable aspect of the role.

Q. Do you have any goals or targets in mind for the future of Cyacomb?

We have ambitious goals and targets for the next few years here at Cyacomb. Personally for me, my goal is to build a team of world class professionals committed to achieving our corporate goals.

Q. What advice would you give to anyone starting out in your line of work?

Sales has always had a stigma attached to it. Remember sales is all about relationships and trust. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Help those around you to achieve their full potential, stay focused and driven.

Q. If you could instantly have one new skill or talent, what would it be?

I wish I could kite surf. I live by the coast and have tried several times, but just can’t get the hang of it!

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time away from work?

I play guitar (badly), I ride mountain bikes (slowly) and take the odd landscape photograph from time to time.
