How to use a Contraband Filter Plugin

This guide explains how to correctly deploy and use a Contraband Filter Plugin (.cfp file) within Cyacomb Examiner Plus.

Introduction

A Contraband Filter Plugin file (.cfp) is a special Contraband Filter which extends
the detection capabilities of a Contraband Filter or Contraband Filter Set. They are
primarily intended to search for additional content without changing the
Contraband Filter or Contraband Filter Set they are loaded with. The Contraband Filter Plugin is used in the Examiner Plus application in all modes.

Installing the Plugin

To use a generated Contraband Filter Plugin:
  1. Locate your generated .cfp file.
  2. Copy the file into your computers Contraband Filters directory.
Bootable / Live Mode
If using a Cyacomb bootable or live environment, copy the file to the following location on the Cyacomb dongle: CyacombDrv\Application\ContrabandFilters

Plugin Behavior
  • Multiple Contraband Filter Plugins .cfp files and Contraband Filters .cf files can be run in a scan.
  • A .cfp file has to be run alongside at least one .cf file.
  • .cfp files will not run alone.

Running the .cfp file in Examiner Plus

When running Examiner Plus and selecting to load Contraband Filters you can also select and load any Contraband Filter Plugin to run in conjunction with the Contraband Filters selected.

Results will be listed in the Cyacomb Application under the “Potential contraband” category.
