Setup & Installation of Cyacomb Examiner Plus Software

This guide walks you through how to download, install, and configure Cyacomb Examiner Plus, including setup for Installed, Live, and Bootable modes.

Prerequisites

  • A Windows computer/laptop
  • Access to the Cyacomb Support Portal
  • A central folder for Contraband Filters
  • Admin privileges if required by your IT environment
  • A licensed Cyacomb USB 

 Computer Minimum requirements:

  • Windows 11
  • 64-bit system
  • Administrator privileges may be required
  • USB port (for Cyacomb USB)
Download software, manuals, and filters from:

If you have not established an account please register and await the 
confirmation email to login.  

After logging in on the homepage select the Contraband Filter Hub icon and the Contraband Filter Downloads
    • Available Contraband Filters
    • IWF Similarity Filter
    • Contact RCMP for their available Filter
INTERPOL filters are available by contacting Christophe Boissier  
(c.boissier@interpol.int) to obtain the filter.   
Project Vic filters are available via ICACOPS website at https://www.icaccops.com/users/Login.   
 
You will need to request an account if you do not have one set-up.    
Upon logging into the site, you will find Cyacomb Contraband Filters listed under Cyacomb Filters. If you encounter any problems with downloading the filters from the site, please contact ICACCOPS site directly.  
 
Extract all downloaded files
  • Create and move extracted filters into the Contraband Filters folder
 Download Supporting Software
  • Install Apple Devices software (from Microsoft Store) for iOS device support

Navigate back to the home page of the Support Portal and choose the Examiner/Examiner Plus Icon. Scroll down the page and Click on Software Downloads and download the following-  

Cyacomb Examiner Plus Installer Package & Cyacomb Forensic Operating System. Extract the files from the corresponding folders saving any user manuals into a created Cyacomb User Manuals folder.   

Install Cyacomb Software

Install the following in this order:

  1. Cyacomb Forensic OS
  2. Dongle Maker
  3. Cyacomb Examiner Plus

⚠️ Do not launch the software yet until setup is complete.

Create Bootable & Live USB

  1. Insert the Cyacomb USB dongle
  2. Launch Dongle Maker
  3. Select Create USB
  4. Select your Cyacomb USB device
  5. Click Next

 Configure Settings (See user manual for options)

  • Select desired configuration options
  • Choose validation level
  • If report thumbnails are needed, enable the required thumbnail/report options.

    Add Filters
    1. Click Select Contraband Filter Files
    2. Navigate to your Contraband Filters folder
    3. Load all filters

    ⚠️ Do NOT include the IWF Similarity Filter for Live/Bootable mode (not supported and uses space)

    Add Keyword Files (Optional)

    • Upload .txt keyword lists for filename scanning 
    Complete USB Setup
    • Confirm prompts (license remains intact)
    • Finish configuration
    • Close Dongle Maker
    The process should be completed successfully . and you may now close Dongle 
    Maker. If an error occurs, please repeat the process and contact Customer Support if you are unable to complete this process.
